Monday, October 30, 2006 inspired by someone in the dept, i've set two questions (my norm) for RJ: - using a fruit, describe your contribution to the class today - using a fruit, describe your facilitator haha. im waiting to see what they'll come up with. in the meanwhile, i should pack up and head home ah yes, i'm currently still seated in pod E2, doing work. sheesh. //posted by ivy @ 22:30//

alright. enough mentioned - you get the idea. a new week begins tomorrow it sounds silly but as much as i'm still looking forward to meeting my students in class, service-learning team, IG kids etc i'm not looking forward to my weekly portfolio meetings. haha it's fast. i've survived 5 weeks of mc-ing another 5 more weeks, and i'm ready to fly to thailand. whee~ on a separate note, have been proud of my service-learning team and IG kids service-learning they've been packed and stretched to the brim, yet still keeping the spirit there as they plan and push each other on IG kids would say they did a pretty good job at the workshop conducted for SRC yesterday, given the short notice of changing content and stuff got a non-IG student to help out for the presentation as a result of that proved to be an useful thought and it worked. it's sunday and there's work piling in to do or not to do? //posted by ivy @ 13:19//
Thursday, October 26, 2006 was just posting an entry in the service-learning team's blog a while ago and since i'm still waiting for the kids to be done with their rjs and posting of entries, decided to pop by here to leave a mark. have been horribly tired maxed out my time and energy at work this entire week thankfully i don't have facilitation this week (wasn't activated on mon, and praying rather hard that im not activated tmr as well) a long day tmr as well and sat too. argh. alrighty. gotta head back to pod, pack and off for dinner. //posted by ivy @ 21:58//
Tuesday, October 24, 2006 on the other hand, i was held up because of the bulk of emails which came in at 7pm plus so i decided to be slightly responsible and respond to them first when i finally head down to meet them at agora, got a shock at the amount of people the usual gang - gareth, sulaiman, jackie, cedrik and josh but this time, bj and nicole were around too, and i didn't really expect them to be i mean, yea - it just didn't feel right. cedrik drove so we reached cwp pretty fast headed to mac but we really are absolutely getting freaked out by eating at macs and after some deliberation, we planted ourselves at pastamania not much of a difference because all of us got terribly sabo-ed i had heaps of cheese powder on my baked pasta and tabasco sauce being poured repeatedly into my food! oh well, mayb i shan't complain at least, i didn't get tabasco into my iced lemon tea - which someone else did. haha! had a phonecall during dinner a colleague called to ask of my whereabouts, and suggested to head over to pick me up, grab a bite and send me home - mind you, the second time in the day he made the same offer. reason being that i looked terribly tired and in need of some desperate sleep outcome? a nicely-crafted answer to push the offer away, once again. to some, i wouldn't have rejected but this particular one, nah. no way. go away, more like it. //posted by ivy @ 16:13//
Monday, October 23, 2006 both of which are sweet gals whom i've been pretty close to when i first joined rp viv's wedding. westin the plaza, place is definitely one of demanding standard the march-in was breath-taking, considering this is my first time witnessing a wedding with sword-ceremony food was definitely a thumbs-up too overall, a wonderful evening. jas's ROM & wedding lunch. solemnization over at clarke quay, with the gentle breeze and nice riverview it was a small crowd of us and gosh, i love the dishes! a pity i had to rush back for facilitation and i think i missed 5 dishes because of that pretty scary just this year alone, there've been 5 weddings in the dept and altogether, i've been to 4 weddings in rp this year so far; 1 last year tsk. weddings really can suck you dry. okie. enough of weddings, now abt stand-bys due to the sheer amount of facilitation classes per day, i've been on stand-by very often and it's 1st stand-by i'm talking about last thurs was one - i was praying so hard i don't get activated because i haven't prepared the problem for the week last fri was my class today, i'm on stand-by again and very much prepared to do so, considering it's the day before public holiday phone rang at 8am and i jumped - only to realise it's my student so again, i wasn't activated very thankful because that gives me much space to breath and do my own work was just looking at the schedule and i realised, i'm on 1st stand-by this fri (again)! and 3 more 2nd stand-by till the term ends what's with being a module chair uh? default stand-by ah! sheesh~ other than stand-bys, i've no facilitation this week due to the roving calendar but i ain't any free-er why? in fact, my calendar seems worse than when i'm in class! this is just so wrong so, so wrong! i know, i know i've been whining non-stop about work but i can't help it! i think i'm seriously underpaid, for the amount of work i'm doing. sheesh. no! argh. //posted by ivy @ 22:48//
Sunday, October 22, 2006 if you're ever stressed out, if you're agonizing over the lack of exercise due to the haze, if you're bored, if you're keen to stretch your physical limits, if you're in a bad mood, any of those factors listed above and others, head down to a place known as, west coast park! woohoo~ it's the perfect place! tested and proven, more than once by different parties. haha! //posted by ivy @ 18:36// pretty rare that i'm not blogging so often admin work has been overloading, to much disgust granted that i've one admin officer to help out with the module admin work, the fact is that i still have to handle the bulk of the work and it's driving my co-mc and i absolutely insane we hate it for the simple fact that our academic priority is very much compromised i dun remember hitting my D+3 ever since semester started at all, and i've only 1 class! it shouldn't be a tough job but i just am not able to do it it's certainly frustrating! whoever said module chair is a title worth fighting for, is a moron oh well, i know of people who said that, so there goes. there are just so much to pen down that i'm lost for words in summary, - i'm frustrated at my lack of ability to handle so many stuff, of which some are unnecessary - as much as i want to empower the students, i don't want to take the risks - i'm thankful for my only class this semester for their initiative-ness in class. united class, very knowledgeable and thus, saves me much effort in bonding the class etc someone from a department which i'm very interested to be seconded to, approached me a few days back and said he really needed someone now but you tell me, how can i ever leave now? and no, a transfer is not what i want i've also heard of new directions in the dept, which is really exciting but i know it won't materialise so soon well, a decision for next year march long way to go. pod life these days hasn't exactly been very smooth-sailing there are times i just don't want to head back to pod but yet, i miss my workstation human factor. nothing much i can do about it. i'm officially feeling alright over a particular pod mate things have been okie rather lazy to blog more. probably spending more time in another blog for the time being hop over to take a look! www.shout-troopers.blogspot.com //posted by ivy @ 16:23//
Sunday, October 08, 2006 this week has been physically and emotionally tiring. a brief update of the week goes like this. had SL fund-raising meeting after their lessons on mon after that, ohana went for a late afternoon jog, together with cindy and her colleague that was probably the biggest jogging gang ever my tablet was down on wed and it was real irritating to be at helpdesk when i honestly, felt helpless after a day of leaving my tablet there and carrying an acer laptop around, i valued the light-weight tablet which i've had, since a year plus ago the helpdesk declared my tablet as hopeless, and needed to be reformated which i absolutely detested that word, and refused to do so ending up calling up kelvin, the IT genius he came down to school after that and in 20 mins, got my tablet up and running, and faster than before what a genius! took li ling's class on thurs it was fun; enjoyed myself headed for a short basketball match at the sports complex after work rp vs. np home ground but we didn't win in the end lost by 4 points interesting match. nice complex! fri was my own facilitation class it was an absolute pleasure to take them for class this week - missed them last week on top of that, the problem statement and my requirement for 3rd meeting was something which definitely excites them i had so much fun during the 3rd meeting! settled some fund-raising issues before i left office back home for dinner and to pack for the overnight night-walk the night-walk was definitely challenging the haze hit an all-time high that night and we were actually outdoor the entire night it was physically tiring but we made it through the students completed all the activities at the checkpoints as well, despite how sleepy they all felt we ended the walk at 6am; some headed home while the rest went harbourfront mac for breakfast reached school, grabbed my jacket and headed to sleep in the pantry i'm just glad that the timing was right - we've just bought a new set of sofa for the pantry! 3 hours plus of rest before we had to head down for meeting we finally ended everything at 8pm packed up (my workstation is a war-zone!) and left for dinner overall, very much an eventful weekend and despite having much rest, i'm tired. it's gonna repeat itself 2 weeks later when we run our overnight movie marathon! aww. //posted by ivy @ 15:43//
Sunday, October 01, 2006 my idiot bro, together with the rest, really have a way of cheering me up the extent to which they did it, is absolutely awesome cedrik, jiaming, felix and gareth came to pick me up from home on friday evening they then popped me a huge surprise by giving me a pint of ben & jerry's chocolate fudge brownie, which all of them shared to buy it all because i was feeling down and chocolate indulgence should help so there i was, happily chomping on delicious ice-cream and the gang of them, still trying to avoid telling me the destination for the night eventually, we ended up at marina south and met the rest of the ohanas for steamboat dinner i didn't have to cook much since i was seated between gareth and hao - the two great chefs, tested and proven from ubin in fact, the girls at the table were just enjoying our dinner the entire night some of them left after that, while we headed for bowling cedrik brought along his bowling ball and somehow, it felt better than the rest available at the alley because we all ended up using his it was then arcade games, where joshua attempted to teach me outrun 2 pretty hilarious because i'm not someone who will play shooting game and cars but i ended up playing both that night cedrik then drove us to west coast park where some of them did their RJs, while i've my iced mocha to keep myself awake it probably was the time of the night because instead of heading home, we went over to climb the pyramid, play the flying fox and had a go at merry-go-round i was pretty much sabo-ed at the flying fox where they simply flung me from one end to the other merry-go-round seems so harmless but trust me, it is anything but that it makes you go super giddy and after a min or so, you just wanna puke everything out we sat around in agony and after feeling a wee bit better, cedrik then sent us back reached home, at a record time of 5am a night i'll probably never forget how could i, given that i've been so blessed to have them around? thank you, my dear ohanas. //posted by ivy @ 18:15// |
